Lightleakz

I’ve been interested in light leaks in film photography ever since I picked up my first film camera back in 2011. Unintentionally and intentionally I’d expose the film rolls to create unique marks. I love how a light leak can completely transform a photo, whether it obstructs the original subject or adds an interesting layer to the final image.

Between 2018 to 2022 I curated an Instagram account with film photos taken and submitted by the public, using the hashtag #lightleakz to be featured. I researched relevant hashtags and scheduled the photos into an aesthetically pleasing order. It fascinated me how photos taken by different people could often fit so well together, as if it had been planned collectively.
